LEADERSHIP
Apovia's leadership has a broad and in-depth healthcare expertise
in pharmaceutical care services and other allied healthcare areas. Apovia's leadership provides strategic guidance and an oversight function that supports its operations and strategic business growth.
MANAGEMENT

Mr. Nyarko is the Chief Executive Officer at Apovia. He is responsible for the continued growth and development of pharmacy operations, ensuring the delivery of the highest level of service to the patients we serve. Prior to this role, Mr. Nyarko served as the Pharmacy Director for Acro Pharmaceutical Services and Synergy Rx Express Pharmacy where he had oversight for the planning, implementing, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacies.
Mr. Nyarko received his BS in Pharmacy from SUNY at Buffalo, N.Y, and his M.S in Industrial Pharmacy from Long Island University in New York.

As President of Apovia, Dr. Coury is leveraging over 20 years of professional pharmacy experience to lead the company’s continued vertical and horizontal business expansion. Notably, Dr. Coury has over nine years in heading the business development activities of a specialty pharmacy and 18 years in fostering business collaborations with pharmaceutical manufacturers, payers, and specialty pharmacies. Prior to his current position, Dr. Coury was the Vice President of Business Development at Acro Pharmaceutical Services (Acro) where he managed the business development initiatives for nine years.
Before working at Acro, Dr. Coury worked as a Medical Science Liaison for Jerini US, a biotech company that specialized in peptide-based medications. He also worked eight and a half years for the pharmacy benefit manager, PerformRx with his last role serving as the Manager of Specialty Drug Clinical Programs where he was primarily responsible for managing the formulary and medical coverage policies for specialty medications. Other positions have included working four years as a clinical and ICU hospital pharmacist and 3 years in providing long-term care pharmacy consulting services.
Education: Temple University School of Pharmacy - Doctor of Pharmacy Degree; Philadelphia College of Pharmacy - Bachelor of Science Pharmacy; Alvernia College - Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry.

Dr. Aamir A. Rehman is Apovia’s Chief Financial Officer, contributing finance and strategy expertise to the business. Dr. Rehman’s background is in private equity, investment banking, and strategy consulting.
Dr. Rehman was previously a co-founder and managing director of Fajr Capital, a private equity firm that successfully invested over $700 million in capital across a range of sectors. Prior to Fajr
Capital, he was an executive with the HSBC Group. Dr. Rehman was previously a strategy consultant with the Boston Consulting Group.
In addition to his work at Apovia, Dr. Rehman is an advisor to several institutions and serves on corporate boards of directors. He is also a Senior Fellow at the Richman Center for Business, Law, and Public Policy at Columbia University.
Dr. Rehman is the author of two books on finance and corporate strategy and has written articles in journals including the Harvard Business Review. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College, a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He further holds a doctor of education (Ed.D.) degree in organization and leadership from Columbia University.

Arshad has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry, of which 15 years have been in senior leadership positions in the healthcare domain (Specialty Pharmacies, Utilization/Population Management, and Provider Systems). Arshad is immensely passionate about innovations in healthcare and stays curious about technological trends in healthcare management that gives him the unique ability in bridging the gap between healthcare domain and the IT team to create and deliver impactful business deliverables.

Dr. Duffy is the Director of Specialty Pharmacy at Apovia. Previously, Dr. Duffy was the Operation Specialist for Sav-On Pharmacies, servicing patients and pharmacy needs in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland. During his tenure at ACRO Pharmaceutical Services, Dr. Duffy held the roles of Staff Pharmacist, Clinical Pharmacist, and Director of Operations. As Director of Operations at ACRO Pharmaceutical Services, Dr. Duffy was responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Sharon Hill and Memphis locations. This role held both fiduciary responsibilities as well as positive patient outcome goals.
While serving as Vice President of Operations at Chemistry Rx, Dr. Duffy was responsible for internal and external operations, procurement review, contract management, and staffing for current and future ventures. Over the last fiscal year, script volume at Chemistry Rx has doubled under the operational leadership of Dr. Duffy.

Dr. Sapir is the Director of Pharmacy Operations at Apovia. Dr. Sapir manages all of Apovia's retail operations and ensures the pharmacies are focusing on company priorities, policies, and procedures. In addition, he assists the Pharmacists-in-Charge with the implementation of its clinical and claims processing systems to meet URAC accreditation standards for Specialty Pharmacy. Dr. Sapir continues to be a vital leader in the Specialty Pharmacy’s day-to-day operations. Dr. Sapir comes from a rich independent pharmacy background stemming from New York City. Dr. Sapir is impassioned with forward-thinking about new solutions that can improve the workflow and ultimate success of a thriving pharmacy. Dr. Sapir received his Doctor of Pharmacy in 2011 at the
Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy, Long Island University and has received an American Academy of HIV Medicine Pharmacist certification (AAHIVP) in 2018. Dr. Sapir has also become a 340B Apexus Certified Expert (ACE) by completing the Apexus Advanced 340B Operations Certificate Program in March 2021.

Dr. Kennedy is the Manager of Clinical Programs at Apovia, Specialty Pharmacy. His primary role involves assessing patients at their physician appointments and educating them about the services provided by our Specialty Pharmacy. He also educates Healthcare Providers about our pharmacy services through client in-services and involvement in various clinic provider meetings. Dr. Kennedy has been working in the independent retail pharmacy setting for about 6 years and became a licensed Pharmacist in November 2018. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Dr. Kennedy has a strong passion and interest in developing strong provider and patient relationships to provide excellent collaborative pharmaceutical patient care.

Dr. Au is the Manager of Apovia Specialty Pharmacy. Currently, she works alongside Dr. Cruz to assist in workflow and internal operations of Specialty Pharmacy. Prior to this position, she was a Pharmacist-in-Charge from July 2018 to February 2020. Dr. Au has a strong background working in retail pharmacy from her 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician at Parkway Pharmacy and 5 years of experience with CVS pharmacy as an intern, staff pharmacist, and Pharmacist-in-Charge. She obtained her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 2016.

In his role as Senior Marketing Manager, Mesbah oversees the creative direction and brand strategy for all of Apovia's client and patient-facing marketing touchpoints. Over the last two and a half years, Mesbah has led the ideation, planning, and execution of numerous marketing campaigns to support Apovia's 3x growth period that culminated in the company being recognized in the top 20th percentile of the 2021 Inc. 5000 list.
A Gates Millennium Scholar and an Opportunity Network Fellow, Mesbah graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service with a concentration in Culture and Politics. Mesbah's storytelling is inspired by his multicultural background and his marketing strategies are informed by an interdisciplinary educational and professional background that spans international relations, law, entertainment, and advertising.

Dr. Ojeda is a Pharmacist-in-Charge at Apovia. As a Pharmacist-in-Charge, he oversees the pharmacy team providing services to patients located around Northeast Philadelphia. Prior to this position, he worked at CVS throughout pharmacy school and after graduation. He obtained a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 2016.

As a Pharmacist-in-Charge, Dr. Ramsey is responsible for the daily pharmacy operations and for serving clients. A native of Philadelphia, he is a 2006 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science at USP. Dr. Ramsey brings over 20 years of pharmacy experience to Apovia as he has fulfilled various roles within the pharmacy profession since 1996. Prior to this position Dr. Ramsey was a staff pharmacist with Cardinal Health in New Jersey. Additionally, Dr. Ramsey worked as a pharmacy manager for Rite Aid Corporation for 11 years. His passions including traveling, guitar, and an almost unhealthy obsession with the game show Jeopardy. His lifelong goal is to appear on the show and win enough money to retire at a young age.

Dr. Aggrey graduated from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy in 2018. He is currently a Pharmacist-in-Charge at Apovia. With this career, he seeks to make sure that patients receive safe, appropriate, and effective drug therapy.

Dr. Kobeski graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy in December of 2007. While in school she worked as an intern at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and continued to practice as a staff pharmacist after graduation. She then went on to become the Pharmacist in Charge at a pharmacy in Virginia caring for the patients of her local community services board specializing in mental health care and serving several local group homes for over 5 years. Her primary focuses in her practice are community outreach, provider relationships, and medication adherence. Outside of pharmacy, Dr. Kobeski enjoys spending time with her family exploring outdoor trails, watching movies, and trying new cuisines.

Dr. Lu joined Apovia as a Pharmacist-in-Charge after staffing and managing at an independent pharmacy in South Philadelphia for 3 years. He interned at Rite Aid and upon graduating Temple University in 2016, he staffed in Camden to begin passionately serving underserved communities. Dr. Lu is an avid Philadelphia 76ers fan with season tickets since 2014 and enjoys studying chess in his free time.

Dr. Adamovicz is a pharmacist working in both the Apovia retail and specialty locations. He obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Temple University in 2015. Dr. Adamovicz joins Apovia with 5 years of experience in retail and independent pharmacy, including over 3 years of management at a 340B pharmacy in an FQHC setting. He is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining critical relationships with prescribers in order to help the community and pharmacy thrive."

Dr. Mencia is the bilingual, clinical pharmacist at Berks Community Health Center located in Reading, PA. In this role, her primary focus is managing patients with hypertension and helping them meet their therapeutic goals. She works with providers and specialists to adjust medication regimens and to ultimately improve patient outcomes/ optimize patient care.
Dr. Mencia earned her PharmD from the University of the Sciences – Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and completed a PGY-1 community pharmacy residency with Jewel-Osco/ University of Illinois at Chicago. After residency, she moved back East and joined ACME Markets (an Albertsons company), where she took on the role of wellness pharmacist/ undistributed pharmacist. Over her 8 years with Albertsons, she held various roles including: Pharmacy Integration Trainer, Pharmacy Manager, Clinical Pharmacist, IPPE/APPE preceptor, Clinical Residency Preceptor, and Immunization Trainer. Dr. Mencia currently resides in West Chester, PA where she enjoys dining downtown, going for walks/hikes, and selling her pharmacy-friendly counting tool known as “The Sparker!”

Dr. Yoon joined Apovia as a hybrid pharmacist and works at both the specialty pharmacy as well as the retail locations. She assists Dr. Cruz to ensure that Apovia follows all pharmacy regulatory authorities, state and federal laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
Dr. Yoon earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Temple University in 2012. She worked in a compounding pharmacy for 4 years as the Pharmacist-in-Charge where she gained extensive knowledge of rules and regulations surrounding pharmacy practice and multi-state pharmacy operations. She also practiced at retail pharmacies for 3 years, including CVS and Shoprite.

Dr. Fanelle is a hybrid pharmacist at Apovia, working both at the specialty pharmacy and onsite locations. In his current role, he is working with management to optimize workflow to best serve our patients. In 2009, Dr. Fanelle began his pharmacy career as an intern for a retail pharmacy and eventually progressed to pharmacy manager. He obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2014.

Dr. Vernika Neal is a Pennsylvania licensed pharmacist with over 15 years of experience in providing and managing pharmacy services. Dr. Neal has previously worked as staff pharmacist at Pathmark Stores and Shoprite, and administered Covid-19 vaccines at CVS, thus bringing with her a wealth of retail pharmacy management experience. Dr. Neal is excited to use her experience in customer satisfaction and multi-team workflow management to serve the unique needs of Apovia patient populations. Dr. Neal received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Temple University in 2006.

Dr. Ng is currently the Pharmacist-in-Charge at Apovia. Prior to Apovia, he was the pharmacy manager at Empire Professional Pharmacy & Medical Equipment, an independent pharmacy in Baltimore. Dr. Ng is passionate about workflow optimization and growing pharmacies. He obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and his MBA at the University of Baltimore in 2017. In his free time, he loves to cook, eat, and travel!
BOARD OF ADVISORS

The Honorable Dr. David J. Shulkin was the ninth Secretary of the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Nominated by President Trump to serve in his Cabinet, Secretary Shulkin was confirmed by the US Senate by a vote of 100-0. Secretary Shulkin previously served as Under Secretary for Health having been appointed by President Obama and confirmed unanimously by the US Senate.
As Secretary, Dr. Shulkin represented the 21 million American veterans and was responsible for the nation’s largest integrated health care system with over 1,200 sites of care, serving over 9 million Veterans. VA is also the nation’s largest provider of graduate medical education and a major contributor to medical research and provides veterans with disability payments, education through the GI bill, home loans, and runs a national cemetery system.
Before coming to VA, Secretary Shulkin was a widely respected healthcare executive having served as chief executive of leading hospitals and health systems including Beth Israel in New York City and Morristown Medical Center in Northern NJ. Secretary Shulkin has also held numerous physician leadership roles including the Chief Medical Officer of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University Hospital, and the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital. Secretary Shulkin has held academic positions including the Chairman of Medicine and Vice Dean at Drexel University School of Medicine. As an entrepreneur, Secretary Shulkin founded and served as the Chairman and CEO of DoctorQuality, one of the first consumer-orientated sources of information for quality and safety in healthcare. He has served on boards of managed care companies, technology companies, and health care organizations.
Secretary Shulkin is the 2018 University of Pennsylvania Leonard Davis Institute Distinguished Health Policy Fellow and Professor in the Jefferson University College of Population Health. He is a board-certified internist. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, his internship at Yale University School of Medicine, and a residency and Fellowship in General Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Presbyterian Medical Center. He received advanced training in outcomes research and economics as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania.
Over his career, Secretary Shulkin has been named as one of the Top 100 Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems by Becker’s Hospital Review and one of the “50 Most Influential Physician Executives in the Country” by Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician. He has also previously been named, “One Hundred Most Influential People in American Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare.

Mr. Heigler is Senior Consultant at BHG Consultant Inc. and advisor to Scoutbird Investments.
Mr. Heigler is the past Chief Executive Officer/ Executive Director of Greater Philadelphia Health Action (GPHA). Throughout his professional career, Mr. Heigler’s overriding mission has been the delivery of excellent, comprehensive healthcare services to those most in need to foster a healthier populace. Since 1989, Mr. Heigler has grown the organization to a healthcare network of 12 delivery sites for medical, behavioral, and dental care serving an ethnically diverse population throughout Philadelphia and established an award-winning child development and daycare center. Mr. Heigler has taken GPHA from a $4.3 million budget in 1989 to over $52 million budget (with over 290,000 visits) in 2017. GPHA offers services in Primary, Dental, and Behavioral Healthcare and Pharmacy. GPHA has received accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations in both ambulatory and behavioral healthcare.
Well-respected among his peers, Mr. Heigler presently serves as Vice Board Chair of the Health Federation of Philadelphia. Mr. Heigler is a member of the FQHC Advisory Board for United Health Group, the Board of AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies FQHC National, and the John Marshall School Advisory Council. In addition, he is a member of the Robert W Sorrell Scholarship Fund, a board member of the Grace Temple Community Development Corporation, and a member of the Grace Temple Deacon Board. In addition, he participates in a myriad of other activities and committees to provide the kind of care every citizen deserves. Without question, Mr. Heigler’s goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of others. The Boy Scouts of America awarded Mr. Heigler, the Good Scout Award for his outstanding achievement in the field of healthcare.
Mr. Heigler has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Pennsylvania – Wharton School.

Mr. Langjahr advises several start-up companies, and his practice is focused on providing transactional and regulatory legal services in the managed care pharmacy space. Mr. Langjahr's experience is extensive in representing pharmacies, PSAOs, PBMs, and other payors, pharmaceutical companies, discount programs, benefit consultants,
eHealth companies, chemical companies, startup companies, and other entities. Mr. Langjahr represents industry stakeholders in accreditation, benefit consulting, network contracting, 340B, eHealth, ERISA, False Claims Act, fraud waste and abuse, licensing, life sciences, pharmaceutical development and distribution, payor reimbursement including DIR and transparency issues, HIPAA privacy and data security, rebate contracting and other matters.
Mr. Langjahr graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Walsh University and a Juris Doctorate from Vanderbilt University School of Law. Mr. Langjahr is admitted to practice law in California, Florida, and New Jersey. Mr. Langjahr is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP), the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP), and the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), is former Chair of the New Jersey District X Fee Arbitration Committee, is a member of the New Jersey District XB Ethics Committee and is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association Privacy Law Committee.

Mr. Syed is the Chairman of the Board of Apovia. An industry entrepreneur, he has built a career around successfully launching pharmaceutical service companies, unlocking its market potential and optimizing stakeholder value.
In 1996, after earning his graduate degree in pharmaceutical marketing from St. John’s University in New York, Mr. Syed founded InfuRx, a specialty pharmacy in Delaware focusing on Medicaid Managed Care and then replicated this business model and opened a branch in Memphis, TN. As a result, InfuRx gained the attention of larger specialty pharmacy organizations, and, in 2001, he sold InfuRx to Priority Healthcare Corporation (Nasdaq: PHCC) the largest national Specialty Pharmacy provider at the time. Mr. Syed continued with Priority as Vice President, Managed Markets, soon recognizing the need to manage specialty pharmacy not as a provider, but as an organization whose goals and objectives were consistent with the payors. Priority was sold to Express Scripts (Nasdaq: ESRX) in 2005 after which he resigned from the company.
In 2005, Mr. Syed founded Sanovia Corporation, a technology company automating prior authorization processes for high costs drugs managed by health plans and PBM’s- serving as President and CEO. He closed a Venture Capital round and brought in professional management to run the company. He resigned in 2007 but remained as chairman of the board. Sanovia was sold to Health Information Design LLC in 2012.
Later that year, in 2007, Mr. Syed founded and became President of Acro Pharmaceutical Services, a boutique Specialty Pharmacy providing next-generation management solutions to its payer and pharmaceutical manufacturer clients. Mr. Syed sold Acro to Lincare in February 2011 and continued as its President until the completion of his
contract in March 2014. He then served as a board member of Acro, to join its corporate owner, Lincare Holdings – a subsidiary of Linde Group AG (LIN: XETRA) till August 2014. In June 2019, Acro was sold to CVS Health Corporation.
Mr. Syed is also very actively involved in community activities and serves on numerous non-profit boards.
